LMHC has been providing mental health services in Clay County since 1974. LMHC provides services in the office, community, homes, and schools in Clay County to adults, children, and their families. The office is located at 1010 32nd Ave South Moorhead, MN 56560.

The staff at the Moorhead office specialize in a variety of services for children and adults of all ages.

These services include:

  • Outpatient Services for both Children and Adults. These services include; individual, group or family therapy, psychiatry services and psychological evaluations.
  • Outreach Services for Adults. These services include; case management, rehabilitative mental health services, homeless services and community support services.
  • Outreach Services for Children. These services include; individual and family therapy, case management, day treatment, therapeutic services and supports, life’s skills training and development, and school based mental health services.

Emergency mental health services are available during business hours in all LMHC office locations for adults and children. On evenings, weekends and holidays, the Mobile Mental Health Crisis Response team can be reached by calling (800) 223-4512.

Laura Christensen. MSW, LGSW

Licensed Graduate Social Worker

Clinical Specialties: Provides therapy services to children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing a variety of mental health symptoms including depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders. Laura is a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP) and uses various other theoretical approaches to meet the needs of her clients. Her services are provided under the direct supervision of a licensed professional.

Katrina Deschene M.Ed, LPCC

Professional Clinical Counselor

Clinical Specialties: Provides therapy services to children and adults, ages 1 to late adulthood, who are experiencing a variety of mental health symptoms including depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders. Katrina is trained in early attachment issues, trauma (TFCBT), and complex family systems.

Nurse Practitioner

Clinical Specialties: Mariah is a Board Certified Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She provides psychiatric assessments, medication management and follow up for children, adolescents and adults. Mariah’s areas of interest include bipolar, depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD/ADD) and psychosis/schizophrenia.

Clinical Specialties: Provides therapy services to children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing a variety of mental health symptoms. Couples therapy and geriatrics are her specialty areas.

Clinical Specialties: Provides therapy services to adolescents and adults who are experiencing a variety of behavioral health symptoms including depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder and personality disorders. Her areas of interest include working with clients with co-occurring disorders (mental health and chemical dependency). Allison is also LGBT affirmative.

Robert Dennis Staton, M.D.

Psychiatrist

Clinical Specialties: Dr. Staton primarily treats children and adolescents with attention-deficit, depression, bipolar and anxiety disorders. Following psychiatric diagnosis, he provides medication and follow up to manage the illness.

Catherine Johnson Dutcher, M Ed, LPCC, NCC

Professional Clinical Counselor

Clinical Specialties: Provides therapy services to children 10 years of age and older, adolescents and adults who are experiencing a variety of mental health symptoms including but not limited to mood disorders, anger issues, anxiety, PTSD, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, personality disorder, dual diagnosis and abuse issues. Her areas of interest include working with clients with co-occurring disorders, stabilization of clients in crisis, anxiety, depression and trauma. Catherine has been trained in TF-CBT, DBT and SPARCS.

Psychologist

Clinical Specialties: Provides individual therapy and family therapy to children and adolescents experiencing a variety of mental health symptoms. He also conducts a variety of psychological evaluations. Dr. Schumacher has experience in using play therapy as a therapeutic tool and also specializes in the use of cognitive behavioral play therapy.
