To be eligible for CTSS, recipients must have a diagnostic assessment that clearly documents the necessity of the type of mental health service requested. This includes intensity of treatment, medical necessity, and a diagnosis of Emotional Disturbance (ED) or Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED).
Children’s Therapeutic Services and Supports are covered by Medical Assistance (MA) and Prepaid Medical Assistance Plans (PMAP).
Children’s Therapeutic Services and Supports are available to children and adolescents in need of skills training and/or therapy. Skills training consists of a variety of activities associated with the child’s daily living skills. Mental health practitioners provide CTSS outreach services at various sites including schools, homes, and a variety of other community locations. Skills training is primarily provided by mental health practitioners.
Mental health professionals also provide CTSS Services as part of an individual’s treatment plan. These services typically include individual therapy, family therapy, or group therapy. Services can be provided by meeting with families in their home to develop and maintain safe and healthy relationships.
Both skills training and therapy services offer a “team” approach involving both mental health practitioners and professionals.
Helping children to improve functioning and behaviors through intense daily programming within the school setting. The program is designed to reduce and/or prevent out-of-home placement and hospitalization. The program includes group therapy, skills training, family therapy/skills training, individual therapy as needed.
